The Adicts

Apart from Ipswich Town Football Club and Abbot Ale, Ipswich has not produced anything that can be deemed exciting or interesting. The only good thing to have ever left this small suffolk town is The Adicts.

The Adicts- Joker in the Pack

I heard about this band when i discovered my Dad’s old 45’s box in his shed.

This is their first e.p ‘At Lunch with The Adicts’. It was released on Dining Out Records after their first London gig. All though it was released in 1979 they are one of the true first punk bands as they formed in 76, I believe cos they couldn’t get gigs out of Ipswich this caused them to take fucking ages to put something out. The e.p is a sharp, heavy record, but it still has big catchy hooks. The last track is a banger, it just shouts the two words ‘Organised Confusion’ for 1 minute 58 seconds. What more do you need.

The Adicts - Steamroller (Live)

They adopted the style of ‘Clockwork Orange’ due to the films heavy influence on the band, they also said that at this time in punk everyone just wore black and leather so they decided to wear white and bowler hats.

They are still going to this day and still have their original line up, although to be honest i doubt it would be worth seeing now. Check them out, they’re fucking big.
