Seeing as this blog is called Snappy Turns, I felt its time that I write about the main man himself, Mark Prry. Snappy Turns was the main title track from Perry’s solo album. This record had such an impact on me i had it tatooed on my wrists.
Perry’s first band Alternative TV are one of my favourite all time bands. The first album, conveniantly called ‘The first album by Alternative TV’ is a punk masterpiece. An album that slides from 3-Chord wonders to prog-rock that verges into something that could resemble a heavy Sabbath track. The album also shows Perry’s love for Zappa with a cover of ‘Good Times’.
His second album ‘Vibing up the Senile Man’ is also fantastic but shows a move away from punk and moves closer to a psychadelic sound.
I urge everyone to check this band out. Mark Perry’s is one of the coolest cats to have walked the earth. The opening track off the first album sums him up in a paragraph ‘What about the Pistols and the Clash, I mean I like those bands but look at em on the tv, it’ not what I want. It’ diluted bruvva’.
